I am an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Previously, I worked as an assistant professor at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. I am currently affiliated with this institution as an adjunct professor. I have an EdD in International Education and Development from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York and an MA in the same subject from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
My most recent work has been published in academic journals such as the American Educational Research Journal, the Journal on Education in Emergencies, Ethnography and Education and Globalisation, Societies and Education. My research has been funded by Colciencias, the Fulbright Commission, the National Academy of Education and the Spencer Foundation.
I currently serve as an associate editor of the Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE) and previously served as associate editor for Anthropology and Education Quarterly
I am affiliated with the Chicanxs and Latinxs Studies program and LACIS; I recently joined the Urban Violence Researchers Network (URVN).
